Minister Stefanović and General Mojsilović attend event commemorating anniversary of Battle of Košare
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, and collegium members attended an event tonight at Belgrade's Kombank Hall commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the Battle of Košare.

The Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Prof. Darija Kisić Tepavčević addressed the audience, while retired Colonel Duško Šljivančanin, the wartime commander of the 53rd Border Battalion, whose area of responsibility included the Košare outpost, spoke on behalf of the veterans. Mr Milo Leovac, the father of Lieutenant Predrag Leovac, a hero who was killed in Košare, reminded the audience about the great sacrifice of his son and other defenders of the homeland.
The battle of Košare was fought from 9 April to 14 June 1999, in the area of the Rrasa e Koshares border crossing, on the Yugoslav-Albanian border.

After intense fighting, Yugoslav Army managed to defeat the attackers and prevent them from entering the southern Serbian province.
The Battle of Košare officially ended on 14 June 1999, when the Yugoslav Army withdrew from Košare after signing the Kumanovo Agreement with KFOR.
