State Secretary Živanović meets with Ambassador of Brazil



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Branko Živanović met today with the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Serbia, Eduardo Botelho Barbosa, to discuss military-economic cooperation.

State Secretary Živanović said he was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss with the Brazilian ambassador cooperation between the two countries' military industries, given that bilateral relations were friendly and unencumbered by any contested issues.

State Secretary Živanović thanked Brazil for giving support to the defence of the principles of international law and the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia regarding the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija.
  Živanović informed his interlocutor that the Republic of Serbia was strengthening its own defence capacities in a responsible manner and in accordance with the needs, with the Serbian government providing maximum support for equipping, modernizing and improving the operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.

According to State Secretary Živanović, Serbian Ministry of Defence is committed to promoting military-economic cooperation with Brazil. He invited Ambassador Barbosa to visit "PARTNER", the arms fair, with representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Defence and military industry in October 2021, which would be a great opportunity to exchange ideas on promoting cooperation between the two countries’ defence industries.
 
The Serbian Ministry of Defence, State Secretary Živanović also pointed out, remains open for any type of communication in the coming period, with the aim of identifying specific areas of cooperation.

Ambassador Eduardo Botelho Barbosa thanked State Secretary for receiving him at the Ministry of Defence, expressing hope that Serbia and Brazil would intensify cooperation in the field of defence in the coming period, as well as in all other areas of mutual interest.
