Military Grammar School Day marked for the first time
A ceremony was held today to mark the Military Grammar School Day, also the 51st anniversary of this educational institution, which was established on this day in 1970 by order of the State Secretary for National Defence. The ceremony was held in the school’s cinema hall and was attended by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Petar Cvetković, and the Commandant of the Military Academy, Major General Bojan Zrnić, Prof,PhD. Until this year, the Military Grammar School Day was celebrated on 18 March as part of the Military Education Day celebration.
Addressing the guests, the Head of the Military Grammar School, Captain Miroslav Ćitić, pointed out that the Military Grammar School had always been considered the first link in the military education chain.
- The future of the Serbian Armed Forces enters through the Military Grammar School’s door. We welcome it every year, and after four years we send it off to a new future, proud that we have educated another generation of great people - said Captain Ćitić.
He pointed out that the words of praise and the years of this school’s existence were not responsible for its glory and importance, but the generations of excellent officers it had produced, dozens of generals and doctors of science.
- The Military Grammar School’s mission has not changed. We have always chosen the best students that Serbia has. This has always been a school for heroes and talents. So far, we have shaped forty-five classes of students into mature, educated and responsible people, and that remains our task for the future - said the Head of the Military Grammar School, Captain Miroslav Ćitić.
The formal part of the ceremony ended with a cultural and artistic program performed by the Military Grammar School students.
