Minister Stefanović ends official visit to Spain

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, is satisfied with his two-day visit to Spain, which has, according to him, shown that Serbia has something to offer and that Serbian experts have the knowledge which proved to be useful in Madrid during the talks on joint projects.

In his statement given to Tanjug, Stefanović points out that he talked to his counterpart Margarita Robles and the Spanish National Armament Director, Admiral Santiago Ramón González Gómez, about cooperation and possibilities for developing relations between the two countries’ armed forces.
  – Close military-technical cooperation and cooperation in the field of defence industry is extremely important to me. We will continue talks on specific projects in Belgrade. I had the opportunity to hear the positive views held by Minister Robles and the colleagues involved in military-technical cooperation, and I am glad to see that our experts have something to offer - said Stefanović.

Minister Stefanović adds that the visit has shown that our defence system has developed certain military-technical projects that can be complementary to the Spanish ones.

He also says that the visit to Madrid has confirmed Spain's position of principle regarding the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.

– Spain, as a member of the EU and the NATO, can also play a significant role and help Serbia preserve security in our southern province and protect the Serbian people - said Stefanović.

He adds that during the talks, they also discussed our parachute units training, which will soon be organized in Spain, but also the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of military cooperation.

– I expect that this year we will intensify everything agreed on with the Spaniards and that Minister Robles will visit Belgrade - stated Stefanović, who ended his two-day visit to the Kingdom of Spain tonight.
