Keys to new apartments handed over to members of security forces in Novi Sad
The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, handed over the keys to the newly built apartments to members of the security forces in the urban neighbourhood of Novi Sad called Jugovićevo.
The keys were also handed over to members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Brnabić thanked all members of the security services and their families, for everything they did to make all the citizens of our country feel safe and secure.
- It was high time the state did something concrete like this to show how grateful we are, but also to show what kind of state we are today, a serious state that takes care of its citizens, a state that takes care of the families of members of the security services - said Prime Minister Brnabić, adding that every segment of our society was strengthened in this way.
According to her, President Vučić started this project at the end of 2018, and the first phase of construction was completed in Vranje, and in Novi Sad today. She announced that the keys to new apartments would be handed over to new owners in Kraljevo and Kragujevac at the end of May.
Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević was among the first to congratulate members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces on their new apartments.
According to her, solving the housing problem is part of overall efforts to improve the standard of living of members of the security forces.
- The state housing project initiated by the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić a few years ago has been conducted really well - Tomašević emphasized, expressing hope that this project would reach its full potential in the next period.
According to her, we can happily announce today that during the first phase, 548 apartments have been built for members of the security forces.
- On behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and myself, I would like to congratulate all members of the security forces, especially members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and wish them lots of happiness in their new homes – Tomašević emphasized.
According to her, the care for people does not end with the state housing project, and efforts will be made to improve the standard of living for the people who have dedicated their lives to the defence of the country and the security of citizens. This will be achieved by improving their material position and providing them with better working conditions.
- We want the military profession to enjoy the reputation that it really deserves. In that way, all our members will get a genuine sense of security and the state wishes to repay them for everything they have been doing for the state and citizens all these years - said Assistant Minister Katarina Tomašević, adding that this is the only way to ensure security and safety of the country.
Government ministers, Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević and Acting Director of the Serbian Construction Directorate Mirko Petrović attended the ceremony and visited the newly built apartments. Ljiljana Drobnjak, a nurse working for the Novi Sad Military Hospital, also received the keys to her new apartment in Jugovićevo today.
- I am happy and I want to thank Prime Minister Brnabić and President Vučić for enabling me and my colleagues, as well as the future tenants of this building, to purchase apartments at very affordable prices - Ljiljana Drobnjak emphasized.
