State Secretary Živković meets with State Secretary at Ministry of Defence of Slovenia, Mr. Lampret
During today’s meeting, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Živković and his Slovenian counterpart, Uroš Lampret, exchanged views on the political and security situation in the region.
State Secretary Živković pointed out that the cooperation with the Republic of Slovenia in the field of defence was in an upward trend, and that there was a possibility of intensifying it to the mutual benefit of both countries. He singled out joint participation of members of the Serbian and Slovenian Armed Forces in exercises, which was of great importance for enhancing operational capabilities and establishing partnership.
He also said we were willing to offer the training courses at the CBRN Centre in Kruševac to members of the Slovenian Armed Forces and informed his interlocutor about the participation of the Serbian military personnel in the UN and EU-led multinational operations.
State Secretary Lampret said that Slovenia was taking over the presidency of the European Union in June this year and that the Western Balkans region was one of the priorities. He agreed that there was a need to improve cooperation in the field of defence, because the overall relations between the two countries provided an opportunity and allowed room for intensifying cooperation, especially in terms of training and participation in joint exercises. He also referred to the possibility of joint engagement in Africa with medical capacities developed through regional cooperation projects.
