New issue of “ODBRANA“

Serbia marked its Statehood Day in February. On that occasion, at the award ceremony where some of the highest decorations were awarded to both defence system institutions and individuals, President Vučić emphasized that we were proud of our past, our ancestors, but that, looking at them, we were ready to work for the future of our people and our children. The IN FOCUS section contains a review of the most important activities in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces over the past month.

The March issue opens with an INTERVIEW with Brigadier General Zoran Stojković, the Military Intelligence Agency director, where the highest official of one of the most important Serbian security services speaks about the importance of accurate and timely information for the country’s security. He also speaks about the principle of military neutrality which is a good framework for the Military Intelligence Agency activity, but also about the greatest security challenges, risks and threats for Serbia at the moment. Another topic in the STANDING POINT section is covered in the text about Military Academy cadets’ winter camp entitled “Surviving in the mountains”, with details about the future officers’ two-week training on the Kopaonik Mountain. In addition to training and skiing, they carried out practical topography, weapons, tactical and physical training.
The SYSTEM section contains a series of informative and carefully selected texts, illustrated with our photojournalists’ beautiful photographs. This section’s opening article deals with the BRDM-2M Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion, followed by an article about young Serbian Armed Forces pilots, with whom one of Odbrana’s reporters spent a day at the Batajnica airport, and there is also an account of the December class soldiers’ weapons training  before their transfer to SAF units. A part of the same section is a text about River Flotilla divers’ winter training, followed by an account of the Technical Test Centre Day, and there is also a story about the MMA Preventive Medicine Sector’s contribution to the fight against Covid-19 entitled “Living with the Coronavirus”.

In the MILITARY TECHNIQUE section, you will find a text by our associate, Radenko Dimitrijević, about an ammunition phenomenon,  the longest rifle cartrige 7.62×54 mm R, and the PARALLELS section covers several topics for connoisseurs. The first article is by Vlade Radulović, who wrote a detailed account of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi, naming it the “Catalogue of the world’s military power”, and an interview with Colonel Pietro Mostardi, Military attaché of the EU Delegation to Serbia, gives this section a special importance. A follow-up to this interview is a text by Colonel Mirjana Milenković from the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, about the participation of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in EU multinational operations.

In the GLOBAL section, Jovan Čavoški, PhD, speaks about historical development of the Chinese military strategy, and the HISTORY section contains a text by Dalibor Denda about Colonel Vladimir Vauhnik, the Yugoslav military attaché in the Nazi Germany before our country entered the Second World War, a person who became a myth about whom many legends are told today.
