On behalf of the Serbian Government wreaths were laid by State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Mr Miodrag Kapor, and on behalf of the City of Belgrade – Deputy Mayor Mr Goran Vesić.
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation, H.E. Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Ambassador of Kazakhstan, H.E. Gabit Sizdikbekov and the chargé d'affaires for the Republic of Belarus Vadim Mikhailov paid tribute to the fallen soldiers by laying wreaths at the monument.

The Liberators of Belgrade Cemetery is the final resting place of 1395 soldiers of the Yugoslav People’s Army and 818 members of the Red Army, who gave their lives fighting together for the liberation of the Serbian capital in the Second World War.

For Russians, the Defenders of the Fatherland Day is a holiday that symbolizes the heroic history of the state, celebrates patriotism and the unity of the people and the army. On that day, the Russians pay tribute to soldiers, army and navy veterans, the families of those who were and those who are still in the military.
