Thirteenth Battalion – one of our best equipped artillery units
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, pointed out today that the First Army Brigade’s Thirteenth Battalion, which was given a battery of seven digitized M77 Oganj rocket launchers, is now one of our best equipped artillery units and beyond.
Stefanović notes that this battery of digitized "Oganj" rocket launchers, produced by domestic industry, has been adopted by the Serbian Armed Forces after a series of exhaustive tests, including live fire testing in Nikinci and Pasuljanske livade, after which it was used in the exercise conducted on the Pešter plateau.“Members of the Thirteenth Battalion have had the opportunity to test its technical characteristics over the past period and gain valuable experience in using this new generation artillery that they have been provided with so far”, Minister of Defence said, adding that the process of equipping and modernizing the armed forces will continue in the coming period.
Compared to the basic variant of this weapon, which has been part of the armament of the Serbian Armed Forces so far, the time of preparation of digitized "Oganj" for action has been reduced from 15 to about three minutes, while the maximum range of this weapon with newly developed rockets is 40 km instead of 22.5 km.
