Aircraft engine overhaul contract signed with a company from Republika Srpska
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, attended the signing of a contract to undertake the overhaul of the VIPER engine for the ORAO and Super Galeb G-4 aircraft. According to him, this overhaul will make an additional number of ORAO and G-4 aircraft operational and ready to be used by our Air Force, which is in line with the continuation of the aviation modernization project.
The value of the contract signed between the Logistics Department (J-4), Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, PE Jugoimport-SDPR and the “Orao” Overhaul Institute, Bijeljina, is 3.7 million euros and is one of the most important individual contracts between the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and a defence contractor from Republika Srpska.- Along with the modernization process, this is one of the key projects that the Ministry of Defence wants to implement this year and in the coming years, in order to increase the capabilities of the Air Force and the armed forces in general. Also, in this way, we are practically investing in the "Orao company, which is the only company in this part of Europe that can carry out the overhaul of this type of engine, and at the same time we are investing in the brotherly Republika Srpska - said Minister Stefanović.
Minister Stefanović points out that he talked today to the partners from Republika Srpska about organizing a visit to other companies in Republika Srpska.
- We talked about meeting with representatives of other companies and perhaps visiting some of the companies, such as "Kosmos", and talking to them about what else can be provided by joint cooperation, and what would increase our trade, our industrial cooperation. Our priority goal is to increase the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces. I am convinced that we will continue active cooperation with the Minister and other colleagues from Republika Srpska very soon - Minister Stefanović pointed out.
The Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship of Republika Srpska, Vjekoslav Petričević, thanked Minister Stefanović for his hospitality, emphasizing that the contract signed with the "Orao" company from Bijeljina, was only one in a series of contracts concluded so far between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and defence contractors from Republika Srpska.- We also talked about other activities that we plan to implement this year. We will continue our cooperation in the future for the benefit of both parties - said Minister Petričević.
Along with Ministers Stefanović and Petričević, the signing of the contract was attended by the Assistant Minister for Material Resources, Nenad Miloradović, PhD, and the contract was signed by Brigadier General Srđan Petković, Head of the Logistics Department (J-4) - on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Danijel Pantić, Assistant Director for economic and financial affairs of PE "Jugoimport-SDPR", and Mladen Stojanović, Director of the "Orao” company.
