Minister Stefanović meets with Ambassador of Slovenia Bergant
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Damjan Bergant.
Minister Stefanović emphasized that the relations between the two countries were characterised by developed cooperation in numerous fields. He noted that the cooperation with the European Union and its member states was one of the Ministry of Defence’s priorities, in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Minister emphasized our commitment to intensify cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence, with mutual respect for each other’s interests, especially when it comes to military to military and military economic cooperation. He expressed hope that a meeting between the two ministers of defence would take place this year, if the epidemiological situation permitted.
Ambassador Bergant noted that Slovenia would take over the EU presidency in June this year and that one of the goals during its presidency would be to help the countries in the region join the European Union. The Ambassador conveyed Slovenia’s support to Serbia in the process of European integration and participation in the Common Security and Defence Policy operations. Also, Bergant congratulated Serbia on the successful Covid-19 vaccination and on offering the citizens multiple Covid vaccine options.
