Enrolment in military schools – challenge for the chosen ones
Competition for enrolment in military schools will open on 15 February this year
Many final year elementary and secondary school students will fight for a place at the Military Academy, Military Medical Academy’s Medical Faculty, Military Grammar School and Secondary Vocational Military School. The best among those who meet the selection criteria will become military school students and cadets.
Besides patriotism, which is the moral foundation of the military profession, young people’s interest in a career in the defence system is based on numerous opportunities for training and advancement offered to future NCOs and officers.
The diplomas that future students and cadets will obtain upon graduation are the first, but not the only testimony to their professional competencies that their resumes will contain. Basic Command Staff Course, Command and Staff Course and General Staff Course, Advanced Security and Defence Studies, Master’s and PhD programs at the University of Defence, and numerous training courses in the country and abroad will broaden the Serbian Armed Forces officers’ knowledge and enable them to take up some of the most responsible positions in the defence system.
The Military Academy and the Military Medical Academy’s Medical Faculty diplomas are recognized in Serbia’s higher education system, which opens the door to further education and training at civilian universities.
The state's efforts to improve service members’ standard of living have not gone unnoticed either among young people who now know that a job that requires wearing a uniform is no longer only secure, but is also decently paid and offers good chance of improvement.
Construction of apartments for members of the security system, including professional service members, has enabled a large number of professional service members to resolve their housing issues under extremely favourable conditions, and young people who care about their future attach great importance to this issue.
In the last few years, large funds have been invested in providing the Serbian Armed Forces with the most modern weapons. Future officers and NCOs will command people and use weapons whose combat characteristics equal those of the most powerful armed forces in the world, which are, in many ways, unrivalled in the region.
Education at the Military Academy, the Military Medical Academy’s Medical Faculty and the Military Grammar School is free of charge. Students and cadets are provided with free comfortable accommodation, quality food, superb health care, textbooks and modern teaching aids, sports centres and courts, multimedia classrooms, all with the aim of providing student with top quality education.
Military schools enable young people not only to receive education, military skills and develop physical strength, but also to pursue interesting hobbies, socialize with peers, have fun and travel in order to become not only good officers and NCOs, but also versatile members of society.
The Ministry of Defence invites all those interested in enrolling in military schools to follow the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces website and official social networks accounts, where the conditions of enrolment competition will be officially announced on 15 February 2021.
