Serbian military hospital in Africa fully autonomous during the pandemic

Serbian level 2+ military hospital in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) is completely autonomous and self-sustaining during the Covid-19 pandemic, which means that the entire hospital equipment and medical staff are provided by the Republic of Serbia.
Due to the complex political and epidemiological situation in this African country, air traffic has been suspended, which has seriously hindered supplying the hospital with medical materials and the planned installation of medical and logistical equipment.

The military hospital thus relied on a single mobile X-ray machine, which produced more than 2,500 images for surgical, internal, orthopaedic and dental interventions before it stopped working, after 11 months of intensive use.
In order to continue providing health care, members of the Serbian Armed Forces first repaired the mobile X-ray machine on their own, and then successfully installed a stationary X-ray machine. Representatives of a Serbian authorized company providing installation, who were unable to travel to the Central African Republic, confirmed that they had done a good job.

The Serbian military hospital in MINUSCA provides primary and secondary medical services, resuscitation / stabilization, emergency surgical interventions, basic dental care and evacuation of the injured before the next level of medical care.
