Minister Stefanović sends a telegram of condolences for the death of Predrag Marić
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, sent today a telegram of condolences for the death of Predrag Marić, Head of the Sector for Emergency Situations and the Assistant Minister of the Interior.
"The death of Predrag Marić is an irreparable loss to his family and friends, fire fighting and rescue units and everybody who had the opportunity to work with this modest and self-sacrificing man. Serbia has lost an honest and persistent man who fought for the improvement of security and for our people to sleep peacefully.
I had the honour of knowing Peđa and working with him for many years. While fighting together with this silent hero against the terrible floods and through his further career, I understood why Peđa was a favourite among his colleagues and why they considered him the greatest fire-fighter in Serbia.
He was insistent only when the fire fighting and rescue units’ obsolete vehicle fleet needed renewing and when new fire-fighters needed to be hired and provided with equipment. He will be remembered as a general of our police who won numerous battles, a great professional who dedicated his life to saving lives and providing security to our citizens.
Serbia is mourning over your death. Rest in peace, dear friend”, says Minister Stefanović in his telegram of condolences.
