Serbian Armed Forces get 83 non-commissioned officers today
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović attended the ceremony of admitting the 16th class of participantsin the Basic NCO Course into professional military service as non-commissioned officers. The ceremony was held today in the Congress Hall of the Guard’s Club.
The aforementioned class consisting of 95 students completed the NCO Course at the "Milunka Savić" NCO Training and Development Centre in Pančevo and 83 of them got permanent employment at today's ceremony, while the other 12 had already been employed, thus strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces.
Congratulating the new members on their first NCO ranks, Minister Stefanović said that it was a great honour to be a member of the Serbian Armed Forces and pointed out that it was "the greatest honour one can have in this country", but also that these were the people that our country expected most from.
- You are the ones that the homeland counts on every day and at all times. You have shown remarkable organizational skills and met all the necessary criteria. I am happy today because you are getting a permanent job, and I am especially happy because we are filling NCO ranks. I would like to stress that we care about our service members’ standard of living. They are the key part, the backbone of our armed forces. General Mojsilović and I talked about that with President Vučić, and we have his strong support as the supreme commander to continue equipping the armed forces - Minister Stefanović pointed out.
He emphasized that he would strive as the Minister of Defence for a continuous improvement in the standard of living. According to him, those who choose a military career must know that they have to live with that.
- Thank you for choosing such a difficult job, knowing that it would not be easy, but that the honour is huge. That is why we feel deep respect for people who choose to wear a uniform. It is no coincidence that the armed forces enjoy the greatest trust in our country - Minister Stefanović pointed out.
After reading the order on promotion and granting financial incentives, Minister Stefanović presented gifts - watches to the three best-ranking sergeants: Jovan Mijailović, Miloš Mirić and Petar Ivetić.
Sergeant Jovan Mijailović, the best student in this class, pointed out that it was his honour to address the audience today on behalf of his friends and colleagues.
- This journey, which began a long time ago, with years of work, effort, dedication, desire and love for the fatherland has been full of various tests, selection processes and obstacles. We have developed and strengthened through learning, striving to become heroes of our time, worthy of the great country we have inherited, as well as its rich history, with a mission to turn an uncertain future into a glorious past - said Sergeant Mijailović and added that non-commissioned officers would continue their journey in the footsteps of their glorious ancestors "ready to put their lives at the service of their people and their country”.
Today’s ceremony included a cultural and artistic program, and was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Živković, Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević and the Training Command Chief of Staff Colonel Nikola Dejanović.
