President of the Republic and Supreme Commander extends greetings on the occasion of Air Force and Air Defence Day
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces extended his best wishes to members of the Air Force and Air Defence celebrating 24 December – Air Force and Air Defence Day. The President’s message reads as follows:
“I extend my warm wishes to all members of the Air Force and Air Defence celebrating 24 December – Air Force and Air Defence Day.
Continuing the military aviation tradition for more than a century, you nurture and develop your service’s traditional values in a unique manner.
Since last year's Air Force and Air Defence Day, you have confirmed that the SAF’s Air Force and Air Defence units are true successors to the 1912 Serbia, when our country was one of the fifteen countries in the world that had an air force and one of the first five countries in the world to use aircraft in combat during the Balkan Wars.
You took the opportunity to modernize your units, which is a prerequisite for sound operational and functional capabilities of this service of the Serbian Armed Forces. I believe you will continue working on further reorganization of our armed forces and successfully complete the ongoing reforms.
Your units have achieved tangible results in professional training and have greatly contributed to the development of overall operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces. The upcoming assignments and planned tasks place new and complex demands on your members, which I am sure you will successfully meet thanks to the most valuable resources that your service has - personnel and their knowledge.
I wish you a happy holiday, hoping that you will continue to be an active factor both in the Serbian Armed Forces reorganization process and new security trends in the country and the region”.
