President of the Republic and Supreme Commander’s congratulatory message on Veterans’ Day
President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić has sent a congratulatory message today on the occasion of 4th December – the Veterans’ Day, which reads as follows:
“I congratulate all veterans on the 4th December – the Veterans’ Day.
Nurturing more than century-long traditions, today we remember an important event, a turning point in the history of our country and armed forces – the signing of armistice in the First Balkan War. At that time, the care of the veterans and addressing their needs was taken over by the Kingdom of Serbia’s Ministry of Army. The veterans were of the utmost importance for the Kingdom of Serbia as fighters in the wars that followed and in which they participated.
By nurturing the traditions of old fighters of the Kingdom of Serbia’s Army for more than a century, you show in the best way that the memory of our ancestors and our history are our pride, because we are here today thanks to them. Their courage and determination are the best proof that anything is possible in life.
On this day, convinced that we will never again have to defend our homeland from enemies in wars and armed conflicts, we thank them for the sacrifices they made and we promise that it was not in vain and that, although they are no longer with us, their spirit continues to live forever.
I wish you a happy holiday, hoping that we will continue to be united in our intention to build a stable future by ensuring economic progress and preserving Serbia’s integrity and the Serbian Armed Forces’ identity," reads the congratulatory message from President Vučić.
