Minister Stefanović meets with Bulgarian Ambassador Vlaykov
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Serbia, Mr Radko Vlaykov today.
Minister Stefanović stressed the importance of bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as Serbia’s intention to strengthen its good neighbourly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria in order to preserve stability in the region. He pointed out that Serbia’s priority is accession to the European Union, which is another reason why it wants to maintain good relations with neighbouring countries.
Ambassador Vlaykov congratulated Minister Stefanović on his appointment as Minister of Defence and wished him success in his future endeavours. Also, he pointed out that Bulgaria respects and supports Serbia’s military neutrality and assessed that the cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Bulgaria is at a high level, and he expressed hope and belief that it would be in an upward trend in the coming period.
Ambassador Vlaykov pointed out that on 1 January 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Belgrade would take over the role of the NATO contact point embassy in the Republic of Serbia for a period of two years.
