International Day against Fascism and Anti-Semitism marked
Today, a delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces attended the wreath-laying ceremony to mark the International Day against Fascism and Anti-Semitism at the monument “Menorah in Flames“ at the Danube quay.
The national wreath-laying ceremony was led by the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Dr Darija Kisić Tepavčević, who laid a wreath at the monument “Menorah in Flames“.
Dr Kisić Tepavčević said that on 9 November 1938 unprecedented violence took place on German streets and squares, which marked the beginning of the persecution of Jews and ended in killing six million innocent men, women and children. She emphasized that Serbian institutions participate and support the activities that preserve the memory of the Holocaust and genocide victims.
The ceremony was organized by the Serbian Government and the Committee for nurturing the traditions of Serbian liberation wars, and Rabbi Isak Asiel held a prayer service in remembrance of the Jewish victims in the Second World War.
