Minister Stefanović visits Air Force and Air Defence Command
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, visited the Command of the Air Force and Air Defence together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović. He said that we will continue investing in this service in the coming period.
Minister Stefanović was briefed about the situation and the main tasks by the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Duško Žarković. After the meeting, Minister Stefanović stressed that he was deeply honoured and pleased with the opportunity to get acquainted with the responsibilities of the Command of the Air Force and Air Defence, as well as the investments made by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, with the support of President Vučić, in the modernization of AF and AD.- Resources owned by the Air Force and Air Defence today are held in great respect in the whole region, and owing to those investments, procurement of the most modern air defence equipment and aircraft, primarily MiG-29s, Serbia can say that it successfully protects its sky and its citizens and that it guarantees security and freedom to its country – emphasized Minister Stefanović.
Minister Stefanović said that we will continue investing in the Air Force, and that this is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces and Serbia, as well as the popularization of the military profession, especially when it comes to young pilots.
- It is important for us that people feel why it is an honour to be part of such elite units of the Serbian Armed Forces, but also that we consider what we can do to improve the servicemen’s standard of living, equipment and training – Minister of Defence pointed out.
He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that during today’s visit he saw that both General Žarković and everyone else in the Command are extremely dedicated and pointed out that these are the people who work there every day, every minute, and make sure our sky is safe 24 hours a day.
- I hope that, in cooperation with them, with General Mojsilović and other people in the Serbian Armed Forces, I will be able to make another step forward and fulfil all tasks given to us by President Vučić and make the Air Force and Air Defence even stronger and more powerful in the defence of our country - said Minister Stefanović.
The Command of Air Force and Air Defence was also visited by the Head of the Operations Department of the General Staff, Major General Želimir Glišović, Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Brigadier General Željko Bilić, Chief of Staff of AF and AD, Brigadier General Aleksandar Bjelić and Commander of 126th ASEWG Brigade, Colonel Aleksanar Dučić.
