Concert “Shadows of Baroque“

Tonight, the Artistic Ensemble “Stanislav Binički” gave a concert entitled “Shadows of Baroque” in the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club in Belgrade.

As suggested by the title, this concert from the series of concerts entitled "We have selected for you" was dedicated to the magnificent baroque and neo-baroque music. The soloists were Snježana Pavićević, piccolo flute, and Božidar Antić, oboe, and the Orchestra was conducted by Katarina Božić.
The Baroque evening began with an overture from the opera “L'Olimpiade” by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, followed by Flute Concerto in G major by the same author. The audience, eager for classical music, enjoyed the authentic performance of both the Orchestra and the soloist on the piccolo flute, Snježana Pavićević.

The next piece on the programme was the famous and well liked Adagio, which is considered to be the most popular and most performed composition by the Italian baroque composer and violinist Albinoni, although the composition was composed by Remo Giazotto, based on a fragment of Albinoni’s work. At tonight's concert, Adagio was performed by the organ soloist Predrag Gost and Uroš Kovandžić, the concertmaster of the Artistic Ensemble “Stanislav Binički”.

The neo-baroque and the primordial question of the role of music and the power of the performer were presented to the audience by the young oboist Božidar Antić in the Oboe Concerto in E flat major by Arcangelo Corelli and John Barbirolli, and then the audience enjoyed Corelli's famous Concerto Grosso. In addition to the Ensemble’s concertmaster, Uroš Kovandžić, the violin soloist was Nataša Milošević, and the cello soloist was Tijana Ivanović Kovandžić.
The baroque’s extreme contrast between light and shadow was equally challenging in the performance of Predrag Gost, who performed Symphony no. 1 in D major by Sorkočević on the harpsichord.

The audience gave all the compositions tumultuous applause and supported the revival of baroque music in the authentic performance of the Orchestra of the Artistic Ensemble "Stanislav Binički", extraordinary soloists and exceptionally inspired conductor Katarina Božić.
The general impression is that both the audience and musicians thoroughly enjoyed the concert, equally eager for cultural events that were disrupted by the coronavirus, due to which the number of visitors in the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club was limited tonight, and all other recommended epidemiological measures were followed.
