Minister Vulin: As of today “Cobras” are again a Squadron directly subordinated to the Chief of the General Staff
- As of today, “Cobras” are no longer an MP Battalion. As of today, “Cobras” are a Squadron directly subordinated to the Chief of the General Staff – said the Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin after today’s visit to the members of that unit in the “Vasa Čarapić“ barracks in Belgrade.
According to Minister Vulin, returning the status of a squadron to “Cobras” is an act which proves that the value of that unit and the specificity of the tasks they perform have been recognized. - Thanks to that decision and that order, “Cobras” will be able to do their job better and more efficiently. Their job is difficult, responsible, and we, the military leaders, are responsible for making their job at least a bit easier and their existence more certain. “Cobras” are our elite unit that looks after some of the most important Serbian officials. We have invested a lot in their equipment and training, and they are returning the favour in the best possible way.
Minister Vulin emphasizes that “Cobras” are a unit to be proud of, a unit that much larger and wealthier armed forces can learn from. Organisational changes have increased the speed of response, simplified the chain of command and the use of the unit, and increased the number of jobs and career advancement opportunities.
