Pilot Major Dejan Krsnik laid to rest
Major Dejan Krsnik, who died in the MiG-21 crash on 25 September, was buried today with full military honours in the New Bežanija Cemetery in Belgrade.
Besides family members, relatives, co-workers and friends, his funeral was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Duško Žarković, Head of the Operations Department of the General Staff, Major General Želimir Glišović and the Head of the Logistics Department, Brigadier General Srđan Petković.
The flag of the Republic of Serbia was given to Major Krsnik’s son as a sign of remembrance and eternal gratitude of the homeland for everything that the pilot had done for it.
Major Dejan Krsnik was the Commander of the 4th Aviation Section of the 101st Fighter Squadron. He was born in Belgrade on 28 May 1971. He was a professional serviceman since 30th July 1994. He was married and a father of one child.
Major Dejan Krsnik and Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljević tragically died on 25 September in a MiG-21 crash in the area of the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik, while they were performing a regular flight task.
