Pilot Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljević laid to rest
Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljević, who died in the MiG-21 crash on 25 September, was buried today with full military honours in the cemetery in the village of Donja Borina near Mali Zvornik.
Besides family members, relatives, co-workers and friends, his funeral was attended by the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Petar Cvetković, Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Air Defence Command, Brigadier General Aleksandar Bjelić and the Commander of the 204th Air Brigade, Colonel Brane Krnjajić.
The flag of the Republic of Serbia was given to Captain Vasiljević’s wife as a sign of remembrance and eternal gratitude of the homeland for everything that the pilot had done for it.
Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljević was Assistant Commander for Intelligence and Reconnaissance Activities of the 101st Fighter Squadron. He was born in Loznica on 3 October 1977. He was a professional serviceman since 29 September 2001. He was married and a father of two children.
Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljević and Major Dejan Krsnik tragically died on 25 September in a MiG-21 crash in the area of the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik, while they were performing a regular flight task.
