Minister of Defence and Chief of General Staff visit families of pilots killed in aircraft crash
The Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Milan Mojsilović, the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Duško Žarković, the Commander of the 204th Air Brigade, Colonel Brane Krnjajić and colleagues from their unit visited today families of Major Dejan Krsnik and Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljević, the two pilots who lost their lives yesterday in the MiG-21 crash in the area of the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik.
They expressed their condolences to the pilots’ families, conveyed condolences of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and said that the terrible accident that took place yesterday affected not only families and friends, but also all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and the citizens of Serbia who appreciate constant work and alertness of the Air Force pilots.We know how much dedication and sacrifice their vocation requires, how much risk they have to take when carrying out the honourable task of protecting our sky and the security of all of us.
The Air Force has lost two excellent, experienced pilots, good men and dear colleagues. They executed all tasks responsibly, and were loyal to officer’s profession and their people. They were part of our pride and we are sad that they are no longer with you or in our defence system.
Minister Vulin and General Mojsilović told the families that they will not be forgotten. Keeping the memory of Major Krsnik and Captain 1st Class Vasiljević, Serbian Armed Forces will take care of you as their own, just like they take care of all serviceman who devoted their lives to serving the homeland.
