Competition for 34 student scholarships
The Ministry of Defence has opened a competition for awarding 34 student scholarships for the 2020/2021 academic year –14 scholarships for master’s degree programmes and 20 bachelor degree scholarships.
Students pursuing a master's degree in the fields of industrial engineering and engineering management, as well as mechanical engineering can enter the competition.
The competition is open for the students of the fourth year of bachelor studies in the field of industrial engineering and engineering management, and the students of the third and fourth years of studies in the field of electrical engineering and computer engineering.
The amount of the student scholarship in the 2020/2021 academic year is 50,000 dinars for graduate students, 40,000 dinars for fourth-year students, and 35,000 dinars for third-year undergraduate students.
The competition envisages that the scholarship students will be employed as civilians in the Ministry of Defence once they complete their studies, and their future posts will be in the Military Technical Institute in Belgrade and the Technical Overhaul Institute in Kragujevac where they will work on research and development projects in an environment that allows creativity and the opportunity for continuous professional development in the country and abroad.
In this way, the Ministry of Defence encourages the most hard-working and talented students to direct their knowledge towards the development and advancement of their country's defence capabilities. The military industry is responsible for technological development, and the challenge for the new generation is to continue on the path of success towards the top of state-of-the-art technologies. The development of weapons and military equipment is one of the generators of the development of modern science and modern technologies throughout the world.
The Military Technical Institute has been a source of technological innovation and a generator of modern technologies in the field of defence industry of our country for 72 years. The institute is in charge of the development of armaments, with the goal of making our armed forces strong and reliable, and our country safe and free. What characterizes the basic activity of the Military Technical Institute is the development of modern complex combat and non-combat systems.
Employment in the Military Technical Institute provides the opportunity to participate in the development of state-of-the-art weapons and military equipment: guided and unguided missile systems, modern combat systems, unmanned platforms, unmanned aerial vehicles, modern electronic and communication systems, radar and air defence systems.
Employment in the Technical Overhaul Institute in Kragujevac provides young engineers with challenging tasks related to monitoring, testing, maintenance and overhaul of the new modern and complex explosive ordnance.
Today, the Technical Overhaul Institute “Kragujevac”, which dates back to 1853, has modern laboratories for testing the chemical stability of gunpowder and rocket fuels, which allows constant monitoring and improvement of the process of ordnance testing, and thanks to special equipment that the Institute has, it is possible to conduct ballistic testing on the testing range.
Entering the competition for the student scholarship of the Ministry of Defence, opens the possibility of getting a job and building a career in these eminent and prestigious institutions well-known to the domestic and foreign professional public. Upon successful completion of the studies, in addition to guaranteed employment, candidates get the chance to work in modern laboratories and be engaged in the implementation of concrete and applicable projects, whose ultimate goal is usability in the defence of the Republic of Serbia. Participating in the development of the Serbian Armed Forces is an important life mission, not just an ordinary job.
