Minister Vulin: There is just one truth about the Second World War and there is one winner
- At today’s Conference we also spoke about the Second World War, where a great respect was expressed for Serbia and its sacrifice. We have signed a Declaration by which we oblige ourselves and call upon the world to stop changing, and trying to change the history, because there is just one history of the Second World War and just one truth about the Second World War and there is just one winning and one defeated side – stated Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin after a joint session of ministers of defence of the states participating in the Commonwealth of Independent States, the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and Common Security Treaty Organisation at which he participated as the guest of honour at the invitation of Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergey Shoygu.
Minister Vulin stressed that “we do not allow equalisation of the winners and defeated, and we cannot and we will not accept the statement that the Wehrmacht and the Red Army are the same.”
- We cannon and we will not accept that someone forgets how immense contribution the Serbian people made in the victory against Nazism. Also, we are very grateful to the Red Army and to the memory of the fight that they led with Yugoslav partisans for the liberation of our country. We ask from the entire world never to forget this and not to try to change the history because of daily politics and weakening of old ties. We are not all the same, we cannot be all the same, and those whose ancestors cowardly decided to side with Hitler can be angry with their ancestors, but they cannot take away our right to be what we are, to be the winners – Minister Vulin stated.
