The 214th anniversary of the Battle of Mišar marked
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath today at the monument to Karađorđe and the Heroes of Mišar, on the Mišar Hill near Šabac, to mark the 214th anniversary of the Battle of Mišar.
The wreath-laying and tribute ceremony was led by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Zoran Antić.
The Battle of Mišar, which took place on 13 August 1806, is one of the most important victories of the rebels over the units of the then Ottoman Armed Forces. Led by Grand Leader Karađorđe and prominent rebel leaders from the Šabac and Valjevo regions, the Serbs won and thus strengthened the position of the rebels and dramatically weakened the status of the Turks in the Pashalik of Belgrade.
