Minister Vulin: Military health system provides full contribution to fight against Corona virus

- The Serbian Armed Forces are always there for their state, to provide assistance to health care system, Serbia and its citizens. The armed forces have one Covid hospital in the Military Medical Centre Karaburma where more than 220 of our medical staff are employed and where 117 patients are hospitalised. Together with representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Serbian Armed Forces secure the hospital in Belgrade Arena, and they set it up and provided personnel. We have installed a provisional hospital in Novi Pazar where we have engaged 40 of our members, and we assist the personnel of the Medical Centre Novi Pazar, and we have also been deployed to Sjenica, where we have two doctors and two medical technicians, where a triage point has been established at the entrance to Covid hospital - said Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin today appearing in a breakfast television “Novo Jutro” at “Pink” Television.

- Wherever it is necessary, and wherever the Crisis unit decides that we should be deployed, we do it. The Military Medical Academy has undertaken the role of a general hospital, no matter if patients have military or civilian insurance, and all patients are coming to the MMA, while the Military Hospital in Novi Sad, is also being prepared to undertake its role and assist the Ministry of Health - Minister Vulin pointed out adding that practically all the capacities of our armed forces were at the disposal to the state.

Reflecting on the assistance of military doctors in Novi Pazar and Sjenica, Minister Vulin underlined that the patients chose to be treated by military doctors “in the tent where the armed forces are”, which confirmed the confidence that the citizens have in the military health system and the Serbian Armed Forces.

Minister Vulin stressed that it was not so without any reason, because those are the people who are dedicated to their profession, and he added that once they had received the task from the Supreme Commander that military doctors should go to Novi Pazar, that medical team had been composed of military doctors from several health centres, who had left their families and no one had had any doubt whether to go or not.

- They received the order, packed their things and immediately went and they are highly motivated - the minister of defence underscored, reminding that there was no rest for our doctors, since they were fighting corona for more than 100 days, every day, without a break.

He reminded that there had not been a day in the MMC Karaburma without Covid patients, while health centres took care of all other patients. Speaking about the importance of their engagement, Minister Vulin assessed that those “are incomprehensible efforts of these doctors and we have to appreciate those people and say - thank you”.
