The Serbian Armed Forces Assisted Population of Blace Municipality
A part of units of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged on providing assistance to affected population in removal of consequences of floods in Blace municipality has completed their tasks and returns to their barracks today.
According to Commander of the 310th Engineer Battalion of the Third Army Brigade Lieutenant Colonel Borko Bućković, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have once again confirmed their readiness to be engaged in a short time whenever and wherever citizens require assistance.
- Members of the 310th Engineer Battalion were engaged in the territory of Blace municipality on performing works on reconstruction of roads, clearing river banks, levees and draining channels, and on recovery of damage on private properties and today they competed all their tasks. Engineer working groups did everything for the normalisation of life in the territory of the municipality – Lieutenant Colonel Bućković explained.
He stated that in the village of Popova they had cleared and deepened the river bank along a line of communication in the length of 400 metres, thus redirecting the river to its own river-bed and now it is below the level of the road. Also, members of the 310th Engineer Battalion repaired damaged sections of a road in the length of 850 metres in the area of the village, they built and reconstructed a 70-meter-long levee along the river and built access roads to the village households in four different locations.
The inhabitants of the village are grateful to the Serbian Armed Forces and they know that the armed forces are always there for them and they have confidence in them. Ivica Smilјković has nothing but words of praise for the members of the armed forces.
- We are grateful for everything that they have done for us so far, because the floods left a lot of problems behind and if there had not been for the armed forces, everything would have lasted much longer. They were among the first who came to help – Smilјković said.
Engagement of members of the 310th Engineer Battalion in the territory of Blace municipality started on 29th June after adverse weather conditions which had affected certain areas in Serbia.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces were among the first who helped the afflicted population in Arilje, Blace, Ivanjica, Prokuplje, Kruševac, Kralјevo, Trstenik, Gornji Milanovac and Mali Zvorniku.
