Ivanjca Grateful to the Serbian Armed Forces for the Great Assistance
Upon request of Emergency Situations Headquarters of Ivanjica municipality, members of the Serbian Armed Forces were engaged in providing assistance to the population in removing the effects of the floods.
Engineer work group from the Second Army Brigade, was engaged in the area of the village of Vučak tasked to restore communications from hamlet Jekići to hamlet Leposavići in the length of 12 kilometres.
Commander of the working group, Captain Đorđe Petrović says that there are several serious the landslides on that section, as well as rockfalls and destroyed passes that need to be restored to previous state and to repair that road for daily use of civilian population, especially now during raspberry picking season.
- On the section in front of us, there are many neglected passes and landslides – Captain Petrović adds – which we will have to recover in order to gather mounding material, which is our primary task, because then we can start with mounding the roads and restoring their usage.
President of Ivanjica municipality Zoran Lazović points out that the unrecorded adverse weather conditions, which several days ago struck that area, have caused huge material damage.
- Luckily, there was no casualties, but roads and water supply infrastructure were destroyed, and so far unrecorded torrent destroyed 22 bridges and caused great damage on agricultural areas, especially raspberry fields – says the municipality president and ads that it is the fourth time in a very short period that the Serbian Armed Forces came to help.
During shortage of water in Ivanjica, the Serbian Armed Forces provided several auto-cisterns with drinking water for the needs of the citizens of the town on Moravica River.
After the adverse weather conditions which afflicted almost entire Serbia in the beginning of the last week, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, besides in Ivanjica, were among the first to provide assistance to affected citizens of Arilje, Blace, Prokuplje, Kruševac, Kraljevo, Trstenik, Gornji Milanovac and Mali Zvornik, thus confirming their readiness to be engaged in a very short period of time in any part of the territory when the citizens of Serbia require assistance.
