Tonight, around 1.45 am, a fire broke out in the "Surčin" Recreation Centre, in the house used by Sergeant First Class Dejan Pavlović, the president of the "Sloga" union of employees of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
At the call of Sergeant Pavlović, the fire-fighting unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs quickly arrived on the scene and localized the fire. No one was injured in the fire.
The competent prosecutor and other investigative bodies are on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is underway.
Sergeant Pavlović was immediately provided with accommodation in another facility.
The Ministry of Defence will file lawsuits against all those who disturb the public, presuming the cause of the fire while the investigation is underway.
The Ministry of Defence cannot know what the results of the investigation will be, but it can say with certainty that the statement of the "Sloga" union is politically motivated and is not based on any verifiable fact.
We appeal to the "Sloga" union, which is not representative in the Serbian Armed Forces, to refrain from political attacks and wait at least for the results of the investigation before it starts suing and judging.
