Ministar Vulin at the "Međa" Military Complex: Engineer Corps renewed to the highest standards after decades
Every branch of the Serbian Armed Forces deserves equal attention, and for the first time in decades, we can say that the Engineer Corps of the Serbian Armed Forces is absolutely renewed and in accordance with the highest possible standards, said the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, after today's visit to the "Medja" Military Complex where members of the 310th Engineer Battalion of the Third Army Brigade are building a tank biathlon course, so that the Serbian Military Team can prepare for the competition in the Russian Federation as best as possible.
- Engineer Corps is a branch that shows its value when it is most difficult. In floods, natural disasters, when it snows and when you have to clear the way and get to the snowed in villages, the engineering branch does that. For the first time, after several decades, we can say that our Engineer Corps has been absolutely renewed and is in line with the highest possible standards. Thanks to large donations from the People's Republic of China and the United States, but also to large investments by the Ministry of Defence, the 310th Battalion has all the new machines, new trucks, completely new equipment. We can say that we have brought this unit and Engineer Corps to where they should be, they can now use new technology, new machines, be safe and protected - said Minister Vulin.
According to the commander of the 310th Engineer Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Borko Bućković, the Tactical Obstacle Course was designed and adapted in accordance with the proving ground blueprints provided by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, so that the Army tank crews can prepare for the World Tank Biathlon Championship in the best possible conditions.
- The course is 4.6 kilometres long and has 10 obstacles. Engineering works are being performed by members of the General Purpose Engineer Company, and the engineering machines and motor vehicles used in the construction of the Tactical Obstacle Course are newly produced and procured in the period from 2016 to 2020 - said Lieutenant Colonel Bućković.
At the "Međa" proving ground, you can also see the protective rampart towards the village of Međa, which is 570 meters long, 8 meters high and 22 to 24 meters wide at the base, and 6 meters at the top. Thanks to that rampart, explains Lieutenant Colonel Bućković, the requirements have been met for barrel insert firing by artillery, armoured and mechanized units.
The "Međa" Military Complex, where engineering works are underway, was visited today by the Chief of Staff of the Army Command, Brigadier General Željko Tramošljika, Commander of the Third Training Centre of the Training Command, Colonel Siniša Nikolić, the Chief of Staff of the Second Army Brigade, Colonel Savo Vučković and the Chief of Staff of the Third Army Brigade, Colonel Slađan Cvetković.
