A congratulatory message of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General Sergey Shoygu on Victory Day
The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General Sergey Shoygu, sent a congratulatory message to the Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, congratulating all members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Serbia and Second World War veterans on the Great Victory Day.
"75 years ago, the Second World War fell silent, a war that became a worldwide symbol of the heroism of the Soviet people, their steadfastness and strength of spirit“ Minister Shoygu pointed out at the beginning of the congratulatory message.
"Our peoples have paid with millions of lives of their daughters and sons to free themselves from that plague of the twentieth century. Among those who fought, who survived that terrible war, among those who did not live to see the bright Victory Day, were our parents, grandparents and our closest ones. "
That is why, General Shoygu emphasizes, “We have no right to forget the history, which some are trying to rewrite for their political ends, spreading outright lies and speculation. On 9th May, we will bow our heads to the veterans - the victorious heroes, for their feats of war, for the saved world, for their faith in the future," states General Shoygu, adding that "the memories of millions of people who were killed and mutilated in that war, who were driven into fascist slavery, tortured in concentration camps and ghettos and burned alive in villages, remain forever in our hearts.“
"I am convinced that the military cooperation of our countries will strengthen the fighting spirit of members of our armed forces, our determination to jointly confront the global threats and challenges of the 21st century," said the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General Sergey Shoygu in the congratulatory message to the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin on the occasion of Victory Day – 9th May.
