New Issue of "ODBRANA"

The previous month was full of challenges, which the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces bravely and dedicatedly met and did everything to once again justify the greatest trust they have enjoyed among their people for decades. The fact that the most popular national institution has decisively contributed to making our life in a state of emergency as safe as possible and that the state functions in the best possible way during the pandemic is confirmed by the fact that the month of May has started with much more optimism and a belief that the worst is over. We feel sorry for those who died of the coronavirus disease, but we are also relieved that the scenario that befell many more developed countries in Europe and the world did not happen to us.
In the FOCUS section of the latest issue of "ODBRANA" you can read about the humanity and charity of a large number of donors, and about what the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces did for their people and their country in April during the state of emergency.
In the CONVERSATION WITH A REASON section, read an exclusive about a meeting with Major General Mikhail Chernyshov, the Chief of NBC Defence Troops in the Western Military District. We talked about everything that the Russian expert team, together with colleagues from the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, does every day to help the Serbian people in the fight against the coronavirus, about just one day that was enough for Russian and Serbian CBRN teams to train for joint actions, about the coexistence with viruses, but also about the attitude towards Serbia and the Serbian people - after the experience.In the STANDPOINT section, read about how the war commanders view the Battle on Košare today, after 21 years.
The articles in the SYSTEM section testify to the fact that the Serbian Armed Forces have not lost a fraction of their combat readiness. We visited the 98th Air Brigade of the AF and AD, attended the basic sniper training of members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, and recorded the Serbian Armed Forces firing 40 kilometre-range missiles from two artillery weapons for the first time since 1991. Regarding the coronavirus pandemic, we also bring articles about the temporary hospital at the Belgrade Fair, the significant role of CBRN units in the fight against the epidemic, as well as a great help in that fight, which came with the reorientation of our defence industry.
The SPECIAL SUPPLEMENT contains parallels and experiences in the fight against the coronavirus, an interview with Colonel Prof Dr Srđan Lazić, the Head of the Institute of Epidemiology of the Military Medical Academy, a review of outbreaks of epidemics among the Serbian military and people in the last century, a case study on epidemic typhus, as well as a little-known story about how Marburg - a dangerous pathogen, a class A biological agent was isolated in Belgrade in 1967.
In the GLOBAL section, you can read about Putin's twenty years in power, and in the HISTORY section we recall gun salute with which the President of the SFRY, Josip Broz Tito, was sent off.
