Regarding the biased statement by the Mayor of Šabac that they did not immediately start equipping the High School of Economics, because “we were waiting for a response from the Ministry of Defence regarding beds and other equipment that the military is distributing to other cities. After receiving a negative response, we will use our own resources to furnish this accommodation", published by some media, and in order to truthfully inform the public we point out the following:
The Serbian Armed Forces distribute the beds where ordered by the National Crisis Response Team for the control of Covid-19. That is why we rejected requests to distribute beds to Zrenjanin, Prokuplje, Čačak and Šabac.
It is shameful that the Mayor of Šabac, Nebojsa Zelenović is trying to portray the Serbian Armed Forces as biased or as an organization that has different attitudes to different cities. Zelenović did not mention that the Serbian Armed Forces are securing the General Hospital and the Gerontology Centre in Šabac, and that they are at the service of all citizens.
We ask the Mayor of Šabac to refrain from politics during the fight against the virus and to respect the Serbian Armed Forces as they are respected by all the citizens of Serbia that they serve.
