Positive feedback from Chinese doctors after a visit to Karaburma Military Medical Centre
Assessing that the hospital is “well prepared”, a six-member team of medical experts from China completed a visit to the Karaburma Military Medical Centre in Belgrade today. The hospital designed to treat all Covid-19 patients with moderate to severe symptoms was set up in just 10 days by order of the Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić.
- Having spoken to our colleagues and other people in Serbia, we felt that the Serbs are working extremely hard in order to protect themselves successfully and supress the coronavirus. This patient protection and treatment system is getting better and better. During our conversations with our colleagues, we shared our experiences and lessons learned in China during the treatment of patients. After the visit, Prof. Lin Bing-Liang, Deputy Head of the Third Affiliated Hospital of the Sun Yat-Sen University, emphasized that their suggestions and instructions were applied in this hospital so they think that everything was done really well.
- They also thought about three zones that must be separated. Patients will be staying in one “infected zone”, the other “clean zone” is intended for medical staff, and there must be a “buffer zone” between the two zones where doctors will change clothes. Considering that there is an entrance for patients, an entrance for doctors and these three zones, we think that a great arrangement has been made here - Professor Lin emphasized.
He assessed that special attention was paid to the important details in the hospital at the Karaburma Military Medical Centre, because they have foreseen that when the medical staff finish their work and remove the protective equipment, they can see in the mounted mirrors whether they are removing them properly. According to him, the approach used here is a truly humanistic approach to work.
The six-member delegation of experts from China was welcomed by the Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Milan Ranković and the Head of the Military Healthcare Department, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić, and the delegation was shown round the hospital at the Karaburma MMC by the Commander of the Karaburma Military Hospital, Lieutenant Colonel Ivo Udovičić, MD, who showed them the capacities and the way in which the hospital is organized and adapted for the care and treatment of patients with medium to severe symptoms of Covid-19.
