The Serbian Armed Forces are converting the “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall into a temporary hospital
The Members of the Serbian Armed Forces continued their work today on converting the “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall in Belgrade into a temporary hospital.
Yesterday, they completed their part of the adaption of "Ranko Žeravica” Sports Hall in New Belgrade for the purpose of a temporary hospital and the same task awaits them at the Belgrade Arena.
According to Major Milan Gujanica, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have set up soldiers' beds and provided capacities to accommodate patients with mild symptoms of the coronavirus today in the former “Pionir” Hall.
- Three hundred soldiers' beds have been set up in this hall today, and in the coming days we will continue to provide all the necessary conditions, like the ones at the Belgrade and Novi Sad Fairs and in the Čair Hall in Niš - said Major Gujanica.
The Serbian Armed Forces have set up a temporary hospital to accommodate patients with a mild clinical presentation of Covid-19 at the Belgrade Fair, where 3,000 beds have been provided. The military is responsible for securing the facility, taking care of the basic living needs related to accommodation and personal hygiene and the disinfection of external surfaces at the Fair.
Also, temporary hospitals have been established at the Novi Sad Fair and in the Čair Hall in Niš, and the Military Medical Centre in Karaburma has been transformed into a temporary hospital with 100 beds, with a full supply of oxygen.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are also engaged in securing and controlling public facilities, health centres, and border crossings in order to assist the competent state authorities in border control, securing the healthcare facilities meant for monitoring the health of our citizens coming from abroad, securing reception and asylum centres and a number of social institutions for adults and the elderly.
