Minister Vulin at “Prva iskra” in Barič: The Defence Industry of Serbia is adapting to its citizens’ needs

Serbian Defence Industry produces weapons, ammunition, explosives, but, if necessary, it also produces disinfectants, which, along with masks, are what our people need the most right now, said the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, who visited the company “Prva iskra namenska a.d. ” Barič, where he visited the plant for the production of disinfectant based on peracetic acid.

Minister Vulin emphasized that the Serbian Defence Industry has quickly adapted to the circumstances imposed by the pandemic and immediately "met" the needs of the market and citizens.

- “Prva iskra” has not yet charged for a single litre of its disinfectant. There will be times when they will make money, when they will receive money, but now the most important thing is to provide the industry, our workers and citizens, with a cheap disinfectant, something that can help each of us. When you have your own industry and your wit, when you have your knowledge, then you can react quickly and, primarily help your citizens and your Serbia - said the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin.

The director of "Prva iskra namenska a.d." company, Stanoje Biočanin, said that, regardless of the circumstances imposed by the virus, the company continued its regular production, adjusting its shift work.

- Since we are a chemical plant, because the production of explosives is a chemical process, we realized that we must respond promptly to the needs of the society by producing a suitable disinfectant. We managed to buy raw materials before the borders closed, so that we can make more than one million litres of disinfectant based on peracetic acid, which is environmentally friendly and can be used safely and very effectively - says the director of this factory of the Serbian Defence Industry, adding that the product is registered with the Institute of Pharmacy, while the Ministry of Health has issued an official decision on product release.
