Engagement of military healthcare institutions in the prevention of the spread of the disease caused by the coronavirus



In accordance with the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia on the introduction of a state of emergency in the Republic of Serbia, we inform the citizens about the engagement of military healthcare institutions in the prevention of the spread of the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In order to protect citizens’ health, military healthcare institutions will work with certain adjustments to the current epidemiological situation in the coming period.
Admission of patients.

Admission of new patients whose medical condition does not require urgent intervention is delayed in all military healthcare institutions - the Military Medical Academy, Niš and Novi Sad Military Hospitals and the Centre for Military Medical Institutions. All surgeries, examinations, dental interventions and diagnostic procedures, except in emergencies, as well as in cases of treatments in progress, diagnostics and dental interventions which are medically justified, will be postponed to the period starting from 1 July 2020 onwards, of which you will be subsequently notified.

This precautionary and protective measure against the transmission of the disease in the military healthcare system also applies to the afternoon work of the Military Medical Academy.

Scheduling of examinations in the coming period will be regulated solely according to urgent medical indications.

Information on health protection
Three telephone lines have been introduced in the military healthcare system that will be available 24 hours a day, where citizens can get the following information:
- About the health issues and preventative measures they can take regarding the coronavirus: 064/8467-215 and 064/8467-216
- About psychological assistance:  064/8467-211

Medication dispensing
Military Healthcare Department has made the decision on issuing prescriptions for a 6-month period.  Chosen physicians will issue prescriptions for a 6-month period to members of the Fund for Social Insurance of Military Beneficiaries (SOVO), and the medicines can be dispensed on monthly basis.

For patients over the age of 65, the patients suffering from serious chronic diseases, as well as disabled persons, prescriptions issued by the chosen physician, as well as medicines from the chemist’s, can be obtained by family members or persons who bring adequate documentation of the military health insurance beneficiaries (identity card, health insurance ID card, medical records).

The period of validity of medical evaluation reports by Medical Advisory Boards issued in the military healthcare institutions has been extended from six to 12 months.

We ask all members of the SOVO Fund, as well as all citizens who would like to receive medical treatment in military institutions, to comply with the instructions of the Government of the Republic of Serbia during the state of emergency in our country.
