The Ministry of Defence submitted to President Vučić an assessment of the risks and threats following the emergence of the infectious disease Covid-19
The Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, addressed the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Mr Aleksandar Vučić, and provided him with an assessment of the risks and threats following the emergence of the infectious disease Covid-19.
Minister Vulin addressed the citizens of Serbia on this occasion.
“Dear citizens of Serbia,
Pursuant to Article 88, paragraph 2, of the Law on Defence, the Ministry of Defence addressed the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Aleksandar Vučić, and submitted to him an assessment of security risks and threats to the Republic of Serbia and its citizens.
Following the emergence of the infectious disease Covid-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in addition to the measures already taken by the competent authorities and organisations, and based primarily on the global events and the declaration of Covid-19 a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation, it is estimated that further spread of Covid-19 could significantly endanger the health of the wider population, thus jeopardizing the normal course of life in the Republic of Serbia, including the functioning of its institutions, public services and economy.
For these reasons, security risks and threats to the Republic of Serbia and its citizens require the adoption of emergency measures under the jurisdiction of the President of the Republic of Serbia.
The President of the Republic of Serbia received the assessment of the Ministry of Defence tonight and it is up to him now to decide how he will use his constitutional powers to utilize all security services in our country to preserve the life and health of all the citizens of Serbia. Citizens of Serbia, stay with your state, your country. Long live Serbia,” Minister Vulin said.
