Minister Vulin: The situation regarding migrant crisis is under control
- The situation regarding migrant crisis here is the same as in 2015. Everything is under control; life goes on as usual, as the military would say – according to plan and in an organised manner. Currently, there are more than 6,000 migrants in Serbia, most of them accommodated in camps, there is no danger, said the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin today in the morning programme on “Pink” television.
As he pointed out, the European Union has stated what it wants for the first time and it gives us hope that things will be kept under control. Minister Vulin said that there was no reason for panic.
- It was much worse and much more difficult in 2015. Up to 10,000 people entered our country daily. As the Head of the Working Group for Migrations, I was engaged in that, and besides, we were the first country in Europe to form an interdepartmental working group dealing with the issue of migration. At that time, President Vučić was the Prime Minister who visited the camps and migrants living there on most occasions.
Thanks to that kind of attitude it was no wonder that one million people passed through Serbia without a single incident. Serbia was an organised country then, too, and we treated those people minding their dignity. Trust your country. Serbia proved to be one of the best organised countries in Europe. There is no need to cause panic or to aggravate the situation. 99.9 per cent of those 6,000 people intends to leave Serbia. Trust your country, protect it and do not make our problems worse than they already are, Minister Vulin said.
