Minister Vulin: The quality of military education significantly improved

-In the Armed Forces, nothing happens from day to day, rather everything is the result of work of those who were in my position before me. We have completely reconstructed the Military High School building. The Military High School dormitory is truly commendable. We have reconstructed the Sports Centerat the Military Academy, opened the most modern shooting range – simulations and pistol range. We have significantly increased the quality of life of children at the Military Academy, starting with increasing their allowances, providing new uniforms, renovating several classrooms, equipping them with state-of-the-art teaching aids, improving the quality of nutrition – from calorie value to taste. We made sure the children were provided paid bus tickets. We introduced insurance, which believe it or not, has not been done for years – said Minister Vulin, in response to the question by an MP at the National Assembly today regarding the measures taken by the Ministry of Defense to improve the standard of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces.

Much has also been done in the field of improving the quality of education, emphasized Minister Vulin, and stated that special care was taken to improve the teaching process.

- We have significantly “militarized” the teaching process at the Military Academy. Defense Managers will no longer be educated at the Military Academy. Starting from March, we are educating officers, and therefore the curriculum at the Military Academy and at the Military High School have been more militarily oriented, with the increased number of military subjects. We had examples that there was not a single military tactic or military history class at the Command and Staff Course, and you are educating future commanders and senior officers. We even had cases in the fourth year of the Military Academy that combat classes equaled zero, and imagine an officer who does not practice any martial arts.

Minister Vulin says that the process of demilitarizing the military has come to an end and that over the last few years intensive work has been done to return the militaryinto our educational system.

- Anyone who binds their fate to the military knows that there is a system that will take care of them, knows that there is a system in which they will be guarded, in which they will be protected. We have opened the doors of our Military Academy and our Military High School to lecturers with experience, not only to those with a doctoral degree, but to those who have war and life experiences worth passing on to our future officers, who know how they have commanded Armies, Corpses,Divisions, Brigades and who are now passing it on to our children – the Minister of Defense emphasized.

Minister Vulin recalled that until 2012, until Aleksandar Vučić became Minister of Defense, former war commanders were banned from appearing anywhere, let alone at the Military Academy telling children how they had fought against the NATO aggression.

- Today, many Armed Forces of the world are seeking their experiences and are asking that we send such lecturers around the world to share experiencesof fighting in 1999. As you can see, we are really trying to significantly improve the educational system, because what we teach an officer at the Military Academy, so he shall pay us back when he is in the troup – Minister Vulin concluded.
