Promotion of Collection of Works of Military Archive and Historical Archive from Požarevac
Today, a promotion of documents collection “Reports and Orders of Nedić’s “People’s Salvation Government” for Požarevac County, 1941-1944” was held in a lecture theatre for Simultaneous distance learning in the barracks “General Jovan Mišković” in Belgrade.
The Collection, published by the Military Archive of the Strategic Research Institute of the University of Defence and Historical Archive of Požarevac, was edited by Marijana Mraović PhD from the Military Archive and Director of the Historical Archive of Požarevac Jasmina Nikolić PhD.At the promotion spoke Dean of the University of Defence Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović PhD, Director of Institute of History from Belgrade Prof Aleksandar Rastović, and Director of the Historical Archive from Požarevac Jasmina Nikolić PhD and Professor Ivana Krstić Mistridželović from University of Criminology and Police in Belgrade.
The editors of the Collection selected and published documents which point out the significance and essence of the organisation of county offices within the system of local government. The first volume contains reports and orders for the period 1941 to 1942, while the second volume encompasses documents from 1943 and 1944. The reports of the County office in Požarevac provide detailed information on the nature and methods of German occupation policy in Serbia, and on the manner in which the county and shire offices became direct executors of German policy and responsible bodies for maintenance of peace and order, and repressive measures against insurgent movements in the territory of the county.Publishing of the two volume Collection of documents “Reports and Orders of Nedić’s “People’s Salvation Government” for Požarevac County, 1941-1944” enabled further research of history of the occupied Serbia and Požarevac County in the Second World War.
Today’s promotion was attended by Head of the Military Academy Major General Prof Bojan Zrnić, Vice-Chancellor for quality and development Colonel Prof Boban Đorović, Director of Strategic Research Institute Prof Jovanka Šaranović, attenders of General Staff and Command Staff Course, representatives of the University of Defence and Cadets.
