Visit of a delegation of the NATO Joint Force Command Naples
A delegation of the NATO Joint Force Command Naples, led by Brigadier General Reinhard Kloss, assistant chief of staff for civil-military interaction and cooperation and military partnership (ACOS J-9), visited the Republic of Serbia to conduct expert staff discussions with representatives of the Defence Policy Sector.
At the meeting, Colonel Miroslav Glišić, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Joint Force Command Naples and in particular emphasized the support provided by the JFC Naples to the Serbian Armed Forces in terms of training and military education. He emphasised that the percentage of execution of the agreed activities in the previous period was high, which indicates that the planning of military cooperation with NATO is based on realistic grounds and in accordance with the needs and defence interests of the Republic of Serbia.The Naples delegation was received by acting assistant minister of defence policy, Milan Ranković, MA, who stressed the importance of cooperation with NATO, both in the Partnership for Peace programme and in the joint engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR. He recalled that the Republic of Serbia is committed to regional and global security, that it is militarily neutral, and that the capabilities achieved by the Serbian Armed Forces through its participation in various Partnership for Peace programme mechanisms have been implemented on the occasion of its engagement in multinational operations around the world.
Brigadier General Kloss agreed that the cooperation between the two parties under the auspices of the Partnership for Peace programme is very successful, that NATO fully respects the commitment and sovereign decisions of the Republic of Serbia that is seen as a reliable and predictable partner by the Alliance.
The talks were also attended by representatives of the NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade.
The expert staff talks represent a regular activity during which the participants analyse cooperation with NATO in the current year and review plans for the coming year. The talks are held once a year, in Belgrade and Naples alternately.
