Reception for athletes of the Serbian Armed Forces
Following success and winning medals at the recent Rio de Janeiro ISSF World Cup and 11th CISM Futsal Cup in Skopje, Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin hosted a reception at the old General Staff building today.
Minister Vulin congratulated the athletes on winning bronze medals, praising the dedication and hard work that each individual demonstrated through the desire to represent their country and the Serbian Armed Forces with dignity in these competitions. He emphasized that the support and investment of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces in sports in the Armed Forces will continue, while providing the best possible conditions for the preparation and training of military athletes.From Rio de Janeiro and the ISSF World Cup, Jasmina Milovanović brought a bronze medal she won in the discipline of Air Pistol shooting. In the strong competition, among more than 100 competitors, Jasmina managed to win not only the third place, but also the quota for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which is also the first visa for members of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces to compete in that prestigious competition.
- I would like to thank the Ministry of Defense and the Military Academy for the excellent conditions they provided for the preparations. The 25 meter shooting range and the air shooting range are really excellent and satisfy all the needs for training and perfecting the results – said Jasmina Milovanović.The Futsal team of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces won the third place at 11th CISM Futsal Cup in Skopje. Team captain Major Milenko Cimbaljević also praised the training conditions that the Serbian Armed Forces athletes had at the Military Academy and emphasized the athletic spirit and fellowship of all team members during the competition.
- The competition in Skopje was well organized. The other teams were great. Like us, everyone was committed to the tournament preparations – Major Cimbaljević said.Today’s reception for athletes was attended by Rector of the University of Defense, Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović and Chief of the Cabinet of the Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Siniša Kresović.
