Commemoration of the 105th Anniversary of the Battle of Cer in Tekeriš
Today, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces laid wreaths within memorial complex “Battle of Cer” in a place called Tekeriš near Loznica, to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Battle of Cer.
At the charnel house in Tekeriš, the state ceremony was led by Minister for Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Đorđević, and wreaths were also laid by representatives of the town of Loznica, town of Šabac, municipality Krupanj, and representatives of numerous associations and citizens dedicated to cherishing the tradition of liberation wars of Serbia.
The Battle of Cer took place in August 1914, and it was one of the most significant and greatest victories of the Serbian Army in the First World War. At the same time, it is a shiny example of tactically well-conceived and executed military operation.
Wining the victory in the notable Battle of Cer, the members of the Serbian Army, led by General Stepa Stepanović, gave an example of immeasurable courage and patriotism which remained woven into collective memory of our nation.
