Meeting of Minister Vulin and General Wolters
Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin met today in Belgrade with Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Ted Wolters. At the meeting, there was word about the cooperation of the Republic of Serbia with the NATO and the political and security situation in the region.
Minister also expressed gratitude for excellent cooperation and understanding. Serbia is a military neutral country and as such will not enter any military alliance. The policy of stability and peace, which is persistently and consistently led by President Vučić, preserves peace in the Balkans and the Serbian Armed Forces are its guarantor and keeper.
Minister Vulin emphasized that the biggest security threat to peace in the Balkans is the formation of the “Kosovo Security Forces” and the attempts to create the Greater Albania. For the Republic of Serbia, KFOR represents the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija, and the Serbian population in the province sees it as the only guarantor of their security. All the countries that make up KFOR have our gratitude for the preservation of peace in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. That is why it is very worrying for Serbia when the numbers or role of KFOR is reduced.
General Wolters commended the contribution of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations under the mandate of the European Union and the United Nations, with a special emphasis on the engagement of our members in the mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL). General Wolters said that NATO respects the neutrality of Serbia and the controlled and calm reaction of the leadership of Serbia, as well as the leadership of President Vučić.
Interlocutors agreed for both sides to remain committed to seeking the most effective response to contemporary challenges, risks and threats to security, and that they would work together to maintain peace and stability in the region.
General Wolters met earlier with the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and with the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.
