Day of Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology Marked
The Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology of the Directorate for Defense Technologies was officially marked in the presence of representatives of the organizational units of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of the Defense Industry companies, as well as representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia and the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals of Serbia.
By the decision of the President of the Republic, 5 July is marked as the Day of the Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology in memory of that day in 1863, when the Artillery Administration of the Ministry of the Military of the Principality of Serbia adopted the first decree concerning the regulation of the field of standardization, namely the regulation of the catalogue of standards – “Administration of all technical institutions constituted by technical bodies”. Thus, standardization, metrology and the system of marking funds used in the defense system are in direct and well established relation to the beginnings of industrialization of Serbia.
The Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology is the highest professional body in the field of material standardization. This institution performs tasks of the National Coding Bureau of the Republic of Serbia and is the central and highest expert body for metrological activities in the field of defense.
