Olympic Day event presented




Olympic Day sporting event, which will mark the 123rd  birthday of the International Olympic Committee on Saturday, 8th June, has been presented today at the Belgrade-based Moscow Hotel at a press conference.
 
The audience was addressed by Brigadier General Sinisa Radović, Chief of Military Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Head of the Serbian Delegation to the International Military Sports Council (CISM) and Božidar Maljković, President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia.
 
Thanks to the excellent cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces and the Olympic Committee of Serbia, the Military Academy is to host the 25th Olympic Day for the first time. The event is to start at noon at the Athletic Stadium of the Military Academy.
 
General Radović expressed satisfaction with the cooperation of the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces and the Olympic Committee of Serbia.
 
- Cooperation has been on an extremely high level in the last few years and we are going to continue this way. The common goal of the organisers of this event is to promote sport and attract as many people as possible to engage in any kind of sport activity, General Radović said.
 
The President of the Olympic Committee emphasised the importance of this year's event, because it has been for the first time that the Olympic Day was organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and he invited all those interested to come to the Military Academy Stadium on Saturday.
 
The goal of the Olympic Day is to popularise the Olympic Movement and philosophy of the Olympic spirit, as well as to encourage citizens to exercise physical activity, socialize with their families, promotion of a healthy lifestyle and environmental protection.
 
The Olympic Day is celebrated in more than 200 countries around the world, and in Serbia there will be organised races for children under age 4, 8 and 12, then family run and disabled people run, as well as a relay race and fun run for all ages. Furthermore, there will be organised a number of sports and recreational activities.
